Danville claimed the Division VII sectional championship with a 63-58 win over Ridgedale.
The title game was played Friday, Feb. 27, at Danville’s home court.
Danville secured the five-point victory behind efficient shooting and timely defense. The Blue Devils shot 52% from the field, added 28 rebounds, and recorded eight steals and four blocks. Despite Ridgedale’s strong 43% shooting from three-point range and a 29-28 rebounding edge, Danville controlled key stretches late to close out the 63-58 win. The victory improved the Blue Devils to 21-3 on the season and marked their eighth consecutive win.
Danville heads into the postseason with a marquee matchup against Shekinah Christian. The Blue Devils travel to Fairbanks High School for a Division VII playoff clash Tuesday, Mar. 3, at 7 p.m., for a district semifinal as part of the 2026 OHSAA Boys Basketball State Championships.
It’s the first meeting between the programs in more than a decade. Back on Jan. 30, 2015, Danville dropped a tight non-conference home game to Shekinah Christian, 62-57, setting the stage for a long-awaited rematch.
“Wear your blue. Bring the energy. Be loud,” Danville Athletics urged fans ahead of the showdown. “This group has worked all season for this opportunity — let’s show up and show out for them,” the program added, calling for a packed house and full-throttle support.
