Danville nearly erased a double‑digit hole on the road Tuesday, surging back to challenge Cardington‑Lincoln before the Pirates escaped with a 51–47 Knox‑Morrow Conference win.

The game took place on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Cardington‑Lincoln High School.

Danville mounted a determined comeback effort Tuesday night but came up just short in a 51–47 loss at Cardington‑Lincoln. The Blue Devils fell behind early as the Pirates opened with a series of quick baskets, stretching the margin to 20–5 early in the second quarter before Danville began to settle in. The Blue Devils chipped away throughout the middle frames, trimming the deficit to 33–30 and later 39–36 in the third quarter to put real pressure on the Pirates. Despite Danville’s surge and a tightly contested finish, Cardington‑Lincoln held on in the closing minutes to secure the four‑point win.

Up next, the Blue Devils travel to Northmor on Tuesday, Dec. 16, for a conference showdown.

Danville also met Cardington‑Lincoln in January, falling 44–27 in that earlier matchup.
