Danville High School’s volleyball team commenced its 2025 season on Friday night with a challenging loss to Central Christian. Despite the defeat, the Blue Devils displayed glimpses of potential that have coaches and players hopeful for the upcoming months.
According to the match statistics, Danville’s offense recorded 22 kills, 18 assists, 19 digs, three blocks, and two aces. Erin Crider contributed nine kills, Zoey Neitzelt added six, and Kyla Kidwell tallied five. On defense, Kayley Sheldon anchored the back row with 15 digs, effectively countering Central Christian’s aggressive play.
Although Danville fell short on the scoreboard, the coach emphasized growth over defeat in postgame comments. “The regular season is here — it’s our opportunity to grow as a team and make the most of every moment,” said the coach. “These girls are ready to prove themselves. First-game jitters are gone.”
Danville (0-1) will soon have another chance to compete as they travel to Fredericktown on August 19, aiming to convert Friday’s lessons into early-season momentum.
