The scoreboard didn’t tell the full story last Thursday night, as Danville fought relentlessly in a hard-hitting match before falling 3-0 to Northmor.
The Blue Devils showed flashes of dominance across all phases, racking up 12 aces, 24 kills, 20 assists, four blocks and 42 digs. Though Northmor claimed the sweep, Danville’s energy and effort never wavered.
Junior standout Zoey Neitzelt powered the front line with 10 kills and three blocks, keeping Northmor’s hitters in check. Taylor Miller added spark from the service line with three aces while contributing three digs, and Kayley Sheldon anchored the defense with 14 digs and two aces of her own.
Head coach Morgan Spitler applauded her team’s fight. “We showed a lot of fight tonight—there wasn’t a moment where we backed down,” Spitler said. “The desire to win was clear, and that’s something we need to build on. There were a lot of positives in this match, along with areas we need to clean up. That’s what the next opportunity is for.”
