The Danville Blue Devils concluded a remarkable 21–4 campaign on March 3, following a narrow 44–42 battle against Shekinah Christian in the 2026 OHSAA Boys Basketball State Championships – Division VII semifinals.
The game was played on March 3 at Fairbanks High School.
Danville Blue Devils established a physical defensive tone early, using a stifling half-court press, leading 26–24 at halftime. The Blue Devils continued to battle in a low-scoring second half, keeping the game within a single basket until the final buzzer. Despite the two-point margin, the team’s performance against the top-seeded Flames highlighted the defensive discipline and grit that defined their successful year. Danville Blue Devils finished the season with an impressive 21–4 overall record.
Danville’s effort against Shekinah was marked by balance and determination, with the numbers highlighting their competitiveness. The Blue Devils narrowly outscored the Flames 42 to 44 in a close contest but controlled the boards with a 28 to 18 rebounding advantage. They shot well at 46 percent from the field and made 70 percent of their free throws, both better than Shekinah’s 37 and 56 percent. While Shekinah had the upper hand in steals (6 to 3) and three-point shooting (38 to 23 percent), Danville’s strong defense and rebounding kept the game within a single basket until the end.
Three Blue Devils earned All‑Central District recognition. Aidan Mickley was named to the First Team, while Ashton Spaulding and Parker Proper each secured Second Team honors.
