The Danville High School volleyball team, known as the Blue Devils, demonstrated determination and skill on Friday night by defeating Mansfield Christian 3-1 in a non-conference match.
According to team statistics, Danville’s energy was evident from the outset, with notable performances including 12 aces, 34 kills, 34 assists, and 41 digs. Key players included Zoey Neitzelt with 11 kills and three blocks, Avery Mezie with nine kills, and Brookelynn Carter contributing eight kills.
Coach Morgan Spitler praised the team’s mindset and effort. “The energy and positivity in our environment right now is incredible — it’s electric. When we show up with that kind of mindset, we’re truly unstoppable,” Spitler said. She noted that the team still needs to focus on finishing matches in three sets, a lesson she believes could be crucial in future contests.
The victory improved Danville’s record to 2-4. Spitler emphasized the importance of unity and heart in achieving success. “Winning is never easy, no matter who you’re up against. A win is a win, and I couldn’t be prouder of the fight these girls showed from start to finish,” she said.
The Blue Devils are set to travel to Crestview on Saturday, August 30, aiming to maintain their winning momentum.
