Danville Blue Devils finished 43rd in the team standings with six points in the highly competitive Division III district wrestling tournament.
The OHSAA Division III District Wrestling Tournament at Hobart Arena was held on March 6–7.
At 285 pounds, Carter Wittel opened the tournament with a strong performance, pinning Eli Holley of Blanchester in 4:23 during the first round. Wittel advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to Graham Local’s Gage Stull by technical fall. He later continued in the consolation bracket but was pinned by Coldwater’s Carter Heitkamp.
At 113 pounds, Kyle Hackman earned an early consolation win with an 8–1 decision over Dylan Cress of Con. Crestview before being eliminated by Preble Shawnee’s Sam Million. Camden Horn also picked up a win for Danville at 126 pounds, defeating Silas Riblet of Ada by a 12–7 decision in the consolation round.
Jonathan Stephens (106) and Cooper Baldridge (144) also represented the Blue Devils, competing in the opening rounds against a challenging district field.
While Danville did not advance a wrestler to the state tournament this year, the Blue Devils gained valuable postseason mat time against some of the best wrestlers in the district. The experience provides a foundation as the program looks ahead to future tournament runs.
