The final score may have favored Loudonville, but Tuesday night belonged to Danville’s record-breaking resilience. The Blue Devils delivered one of their most inspired performances of the season, proving that a loss on paper doesn’t always tell the full story.
Danville’s attack came alive with 41 kills, 35 assists and 58 digs, keeping Loudonville under pressure throughout the match. Junior star Zoey Neitzelt led the charge with 15 kills and two blocks, powering the Blue Devils through extended rallies that had the gym buzzing.
Setter Kenzi Staats made program history with 28 assists, breaking her own school record from last season and showing poise in distributing the offense. Libero Kayley Sheldon etched her name into the books as well, tallying 27 digs to set a new single-match record for the Blue Devils’ defense.
Head coach Morgan Spitler praised her squad’s fight and spirit. “Both teams played phenomenal volleyball, but what our girls brought to the floor was something special,” Spitler said. “Win or lose, I couldn’t be prouder of the heart, hustle and talent we showed.”
